On April 12th, New York Times best-selling author, Rebecca Skloot  will transport us into the world of science, cells and sleuthing  at the spectacular new Marriott Marquis in Downtown Houston. Join our community of philanthropists, library advocates, and bibliophiles as we go Beyond the Page to spark connection with issues that impact our existence.

Skloot’s acclaimed book, which has sold more than 2.5 million copies and spent more than 75 weeks on the bestseller list, has now been made into an HBO film starring Oprah Winfrey, that is premiering April 22.

“HeLa” cells contributed to the development of the Polio vaccine, treatments for cancers and viruses, and the impact of space travel on human cells. The use of HeLa cells sparked awareness of bioethics, yet few individuals know anything about the woman behind the cells — Henrietta Lacks.  Your generous sponsorship of the Beyond the Page Luncheon raises awareness of issues that transcend the written word and go beyond the page to make a positive impact on society.

Registration begins at 11 AM | Program begins at Noon

Underwriter Levels

Benefactor levels at or above $5,000 receive VIP access to the personal meet and greet before the luncheon and will receive a signed copy of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.
