Barbara Bush Literacy Plaza
A physical focal point for literacy in Houston
The new Barbara Bush Literacy Plaza will send a clear and transformational message that literacy is a priority in Houston. Literacy is the key to success at every stage of a person’s life, and literacy is the core component of the Houston Public Library’s programs.
Barbara Bush has dedicated her life to public service, and after leaving the White House in 1989, she focused on her passion for literacy. This exceptional hometown hero has not sought out public notoriety; however, she deserves a public space to honor her significant achievements.
Mayor Turner announced that we will raise $5.5 million in the next 90 days. That’s a goal for the entire community to embrace. Join the cause and contribute a personally significant donation. For information on naming opportunities and multi-year gifts, please contact Sally Swanson at the Houston Public Library Foundation at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Your donation doesn’t just add bricks and mortar to a downtown space; you are sending a clear and transformational message that literacy is a priority of this community. Please join with us today by honoring Mrs. Bush with a donation to the Barbara Bush Literacy Plaza.
