In Celebration of Giving Tuesday, JetBlue launched #CheckinForGood. As part of their month-long philanthropy initiatives, they came to Houston and checked in, to support Houston Public Library hurricane recovery efforts and to benefit the Houston community.

Building on JetBlue’s signature Soar with Reading literacy program, designed to inspire and encourage kids’ imaginations to take flight through reading, volunteers checked in at elementary schools impacted by Hurricane Harvey where HPL libraries are still closed.

JetBlue volunteers helped operate “Pop Up” libraries, distributed free books and hosted reading events, alongside partners Simon & Schuster Children’ Publishing at Shadydale Elementary, Kashmere Gardens Elementary and Braeburn Elementary.

JetBlue also helped score a touchdown in our Book Bowl Challenge, and donated $10,000 toward library recovery!

We thank JetBlue for their holistic approach to supporting our Houston community. With books in hand, and access to library resources the children and families of Houston will be able to weather this post-storm time.
